THE PROCESS

What you can expect when you work with us.

  • Click the LET'S BEGIN link below, fill out our inquiry form with your name, the property address and preferred staging date and our team will reply within 24-48 hours with a custom proposal.

  • We create a custom staging proposal for your property. All rooms beyond the base package are priced à la carte so you can adjust the proposal to meet your budget.

  • Once you have reviewed the proposal and would like to move forward, we will send it for electronic signature.

Your preferred staging date is confirmed when the proposal has been signed.

  • The staging crew and designer(s) will arrive at the property on the agreed upon date to install furniture, accessories and art.

Most staging installations are complete by 6pm the same day (larger projects require two installation days).

Our careful and considerate crew will respect your home and your neighborhood during the installation process.

  • We will reach out to you with at least five business days notice when your staging rental term is set to expire with an option to destage or renew the staging term for an additional four weeks.

A destaging date is scheduled and our team removes all staged items from the home. We leave the property broom swept and ready for your closing.

We do not offer partial rental and prorated rental terms.

Ellen Patrick is the founder and lead stager of Scène, a boutique home staging firm serving Washington DC and Northern Virginia.

Ellen founded Scène after 14 years as a top agent selling real estate in Northern Virginia. Now, Ellen is using the knowledge she gained as a real estate marketing expert to help agents and their clients prepare their homes for sale and yield the biggest return on their investment.

Ellen believes strongly that staging for real estate shouldn’t have to be bland or boring and certainly not a one-size-fits-all format. The team at Scène create unique staging designs to complement each individual home they stage using a curated blend of new furnishings, collected vintage pieces and original art.

Most recently, Ellen was voted 2024 Best New Stager "Top Ten Rising Star Vacant Staging" in the US and Canada by RESA, The Real Estate Staging Association Home Staging Industry Awards

“Staging has this reputation of being boring and ordinary and nobody selling their biggest asset wants it described as boring or ordinary!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Here at Scène, we use a blend of new furniture and collected vintage and antique pieces to create a curated and layered space. Our vintage items and original art come from local artists, flea markets, estate sales and online sources like Cherish, Etsy and 1st Dibs. We love working with artists and creators who make beautiful one of a kind pieces.

Our favorite new furniture brands are CB2, Crate & Barrel, Lulu and Georgia, Anthropologie and Studio McGee.

  • The staging rental term is six weeks. At the end of your staging term you may renew for an additional four weeks.

We do not offer partial rental and prorated rental terms.

  • We will always do our best and we totally understand that you love a certain piece! All requests are considered but exact pieces can't be promised since many of our accessories and art are collected or one of a kind - meaning we may only carry one and it may already be installed in another property.

  • No, we do not stage occupied homes but we can help you make a plan! We offer on site consultations to assist homeowners in preparing their home for the market when they plan to live in the home during the sale. During the visit to the property, we create a detailed to-do list with recommendations on everything from paint colors, improvements to increase property value, a detailed decluttering list and suggested art and furniture placement. Reach out for more details and pricing.

  • Yes, once your staging proposal is signed, we can hold your preferred staging date. We cannot hold dates until the proposal is signed.

  • The staging installation calendar fills up fast, especially during the busy Spring and Fall real estate markets, so the earlier the better!

  • No, we do not stage on the weekends. Here at Scène we put a premium on work/life balance and prioritize setting aside time to foster our creativity as an essential part of our design process. Our business hours are Monday-Friday 9-5pm EST.
